EN (SE below) Argumentation In a royal letter from April 19, 1562, it is said that the Swedish flag should be a "Yellow cross on top of blue". The Swedish flag was last defined in 1982 with Law (1982:269). To celebrate that Sweden now is full member of NATO and thus leaves the period of neutrality behind itself, a clear visual marker is called for. In Sweden we have freedom of religion, but the current flag is clearly biased in favour of Christianity. Sweden is also highly secularized so the cross on the flag simply feels inappropriate and in bad synchronicity with the population it represents. A new Swedish flag would mean a lift for the national identity, and unlike the old one whose motif is static and square, the new flag has a motif with a clear positive direction: up towards the right and forward. The flag retains the colours as per Ordinance (1983:826), but replaces the old cross with the astronomical and alchemical symbol for iron. Sweden accounts for 93% of all iron ore produced within the EU so the motive is strongly rooted in Swedish identity and the country's history. Since large amounts if iron ore is needed for the production of war material, the iron ore industry has become a focal point during times of war and with NATO membership, Sweden undertakes to invest 2 percent of GDP in defence, which is why iron will now continue to be a vital part of our national identity. A continued strong arms industry can lift the Swedish economy just as the motif's arrow illustrates. The symbol for iron is derived from the astronomical symbol for the planet Mars which got its name from the Roman god of war. The symbol is an abstraction of the god with his shield and spear ready for war, an image which is well in line with our new Sweden. In astrology, Mars represents among other things the power of action and violent strength, qualities we want to highlight through our membership in the defence alliance. After years of aggressive, divisive identity politics, it is time for the Swedish people again to unite around the most important national values, and that Sweden after several hundred years of submission once again becomes a warring nation to be reckoned with. A new flag could symbolize this clean break with the evasive neutrality policy that has been pursued for nearly 200 years, and enthuse the population to, if necessary, with arms in hand defend Sweden, our values and our way of living. The new flag can also work unifying and signal an active initiative to combat the exclusion that the growing number of so-called incel men experience today.
SE Motivering I ett kungligt brev från 19 april 1562 sägs att svenska flaggan ska vara ”Gult udi korssvijs En ny Svensk flagga skulle innebära ett lyft för den nationella identiteten, och
